Good news for all you shrinking violets in the Club - Meridian TV have finally given up trying to persuade us to appear on their 'light-hearted' look at model clubs programme!
We would have had Malcolm Shaw (one of the Meridian Tonight presenters who, I think, lives in Brighton) heading their visit and he doesn't understand why some of our number weren't too keen on the idea.
I think tonight's show featured a Morris Dancing Club of all things! Now, you can't make that look any more ridiculous, can you?

Super Production Championship Results - 17th May 2007
The evening started with pre-qualifying with Bill being the surprise package by adding over a lap on his Super Production best time. Phil H was second after building a new car, using a motor supplied by Dave Harvey.
After qualifying the drivers were placed in 3 groups for the main heats. The top group consisted of Bill, Phil H, Malcolm and Ian B. Ian K, Graham H, Chris B, Roland and Chris C. made up the middle group, while Michael, Simon T and Terry and Simon J made up the final group.
There was some very completive racing especially in the middle group with Chris C finishing third overall. Phil H got faster as his motor bedded in and won with ease with Bill second. Ian B took fourth.
Ian B, who hasn’t won a round, is now leading the championship by being the most consistent whilst Simon J who had been leading the championship, had car problems and retired.

ROEDALE ON THE TELLY?
Have just been approached by Meridian TV who want to visit the Club as part of a series of 'light-hearted' looks at model clubs throughout the South.
I saw one of these programmes on South Today a couple of nights ago from the Alton Model Railway Club - not altogether a serious coverage! The broadcast was only 5 - 10 minutes with Debbie Thrower doing the interviewing and participating in some ludicrous gimicky shots.
They wanted to come along Tomorrow (!) but I said that I would put it to our membership first, so they won't come before next week at the earliest.
Any aspiring front-men out there?
(we can of course, say No!)

A CLEAN TRACK!
Just to let you all know that the track has been cleaned off for this week's racing!
Never a good time these days to clean it off - someone will always moan. The old accepted idea was to clean it off before our club production night but it is always in need of cleaning well before then, and super production this week is as good a time as any.
(it has, of course, been spray-gooped so grip shouldn't be that bad!)

SALOON CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS
Had hoped to get the result sheet posted by now, but it is not as easy as I was led to believe! Will keep working on it.
A very good evenings racing anyway for the second round of this year's Saloon Championship.
As expected, Ian B (fresh back from the Nationals) did the winning in an excellent A Final with Ben coming home 2nd ahead of Ian K (quote: 'I shouldn't be in the A Grade!'), and Stuart suffering somewhat in 4th place.
The B Final went comfortably to Jody on his return to racing following his recent back op. with Malcolm, Phil H and Chris C following behind
Young Simon T borrowed a car for the C Final and proved that he can drive well with his best time of the evening, easily beating Roland, Simon J and Terry.
The D Final was won by Graham R ahead of Robin, who had posted a personal best during the heats but couldn't better it in the final, with Michael suffering behind ahead of newcomer Steve.
Hopefully, the full race sheet will appear shortly!

Capacitor Power!
For the benefit of young Mr Moss, (hopefully) a pic of one of our 1 Farad Capacitors.
Sorry no scale of size!

Results Posting
This might work, basically its a copy from the spreadsheet, paste into Paint and save as a jpeg. The jpeg can then be loaded into a posting.

Posting Race Results
One of the ideas behind setting up ( experimenting ) with the blog was too see if we could publish our race results a little easier and also to allow people to comment against those results.
My findings so far are that we can publish the results reasonably easily for people to comment against, however, the actual process of publishing isn't any easier as the Excel file itself cannot be published in a posting ( maybe a limitation of 'Blogger' but initial research suggest the main players all suffer from this).
The link below just links to the original results page that still has to be published in the normal way. I can think of a few ways around this and will continue to investigate.
In the meantime, however, here's a sample.
Race Results - 18th January 2007
One of the benefits of this approach is that the race results are also still available as a link from the calendar page which I quite like as an approach.
All the best,
Phil.

More Power...............?
We have always had a decent track power supply at Roedale - well above the minimum amperage required under current BSCRA regs, and currently provided by no less than FOUR separate fully regulated units, each giving a genuine 40 Amps to each lane.
Despite this abundance of power, there have been the odd moans about 'power surges' - something that seems quite unlikely with decent power supplies and the track voltage varying by barely 1% under load.
So, we have recently fitted rather large, 1Fd Capacitors, in circuit as an experiment to give that extra reserve of amps and eliminate any possibility of power surges. So far, no-one has complained so can we assume that we have the ultimate power supply that we have always boasted about?
F1 Championship - Round 2
Great racing this week, it was good to be back as I haven't raced much this year. Phil Hemsley is a real stong contender for this championship in 2007 - his run on yellow was just short of the lane best which is proof of this. I hope to be there for Round 3, I'll have to make sure I'm well prepared me thinks !!!
